Joy MarrJoy's outdoor experiences started with the family summer camping trips and cooking pancakes on the Hibatchi for her brothers and sisters. From early on she wanted to be a "Park Ranger" and eventually did become one. Later while working on the New River in WV she brushed up against the sport of Adventure Racing, at a chance meeting with Don Mann, Mike Phyllips, Jon Kainer and Mike Nolan- all in WV to train for the RAID in So. Africa. Long story short, talked into (it wasn't hard) going along as support, her venture down the AR road was started. She eventually took a stab at Adventure Racing herserlf, by training for the RAID in Eucador with Team Odyssey. The team was the only US team to finish and came in 13th overall. Not bad for a girl from the river and backpacking genre. Joy has been the logistical wizard behind many of Odyssey's events, making good use of her love of maps first honed on those family trips. She sticks mostly to designing race courses, pre running and directing these days. Though her friends still hound her to race. When not doing Odyssey business she maintains a successful catering business and ski patrols in the winter. General Outdoor experience:
