Welcome to the National College Blue Ridge Marathon
In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the inaugural Blue Ridge Marathon will be run on April 24, 2010. The building of the Blue Ridge Parkway was an amazing feat as anyone who completes this marathon will see.
Local runners have crafted one of the most difficult and beautiful marathons on the east coast. The full marathon course includes 3,076 feet of total elevation gain and 6,140 feet of total elevation change. The uphill portions will test each runner’s strength and endurance while the equally challenging downhill sections are sure to weed out those who are unprepared. The breathtaking views and stunning Blue Ridge Mountain scenery are sure offer some reprieve to runners as they persevere to the finish line!
Not only does the course include beautiful mountain scenery, it also offers an iconic START and FINISH in front of two well-known and historic locations in downtown Roanoke: The Taubman Museum of Art and the historic Hotel Roanoke.
National College is the title sponsor for this event.
Odyssey Adventure Racing will be the event managers and race director for the National College Blue Ridge Marathon and Half Marathon.

BIB NUMBER REQUIREMENTS
- All registered runners will receive a bib number that must be worn on race day. If you are not wearing your bib during the race, you will be considered a bandit runner and will be escorted off the course.
- The bib must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race.
- Please fill in the necessary medical and emergency contact information on the back of the bib number. Use a pen or waterproof marker.
- Do not alter the bib in any way.
- Bib numbers are non-transferable and must be worn by the registrant to whom they have been assigned.
TIMING INFO
- Set-Up Events will provide the results with the use of the Champion Chip timing system and software.
- All registrants will receive a chip that must be worn on the shoe in order to be timed. The chip needs to be attached to your shoe; otherwise, the timing mats will not be able to record the time.
- Awards for the overall winners will be based on start time; age category winners will be determined by chip time.
- Chip times will be used for your official running time and on your certificate of race completion.
- Participants who own their own Champion Chip must provide this information when registering and then verify at packet pickup.
- Fasten the chip with the strip provided with the chip.
- Chip is non-transferable and must be worn only by the participant to whom it is assigned.
- Do not lose the chip. A $35 replacement fee will be charged to any participant who fails to return the chip at the finish line. A volunteer will offer to help you remove the chip at the finish line.
- If you forget to turn in a chip, return it to the Blue Ridge Marathon office within one week to avoid a charge.
All Marathon and Half Marathon finishers will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal.
Age group awards will be presented for both events to the top 3 male & female finishers in the age groups.
